RESIDENTS who live nearby the scene of a fatal crash have described their shock and sadness following the tragedy.

As reported earlier today, 24-year-old Jordan Yates died after a car left Scafell Road, Moss Bank and struck a tree on a grass verge at 2am on Thursday, August 11.

Scafell Road was closed in both directions between Moss Bank and Haresfinch while police cordons protected the scene.

A severely damaged blue Renault Megane was on the grass verge - next to a farmer's field - with debris over the floor from the crash close to Newby Place.

The tragedy has left the Moss Bank community shocked and saddened.
