IF you’re going to put burgers in the name of your business you need to be confident that the ultimate fast food items you serve will be top drawer.
That’s exactly what brothers Darren and Steven Leigh have done – they’ve perfected the ‘dirty burger’ and are winning awards for the American classic.
Brothers Burgers is officially St Helens’ Best Burger 2022.
Since we launched our Best of 2022 competition in April, each week, we’ve focused on different categories to find the best that St Helens has to offer with 15 awards for hair, nails, beauty, fitness, children and independent shop being given out as well as fish and chips, pies, pubs, beer garden, breakfast, afternoon tea, roast dinners and pizza already decided.
Voting is taking place over weekend in the next round of the competition with the award for Best Cafe up for grabs, and the closing date is midnight on Monday, August 15.
Next up we were searching for the town’s best burger and Brothers Burgers took top spot.
When it comes to burgers, satisfied customers say there’s no contest – Brothers Burgers serves the best in St Helens – and now it’s official.
They claim to “bring the best burgers” in their own way with freshly made and cooked patties and all locally sourced ingredients.
The most popular burger is the dirty burger which is a double cheeseburger served on a seeded brioche bun topped with lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, bacon and a warm cheese sauce.
The salt and pepper chicken is another customer favourite, which is deep fried chicken topped with lettuce, tomato, peppers, onions, mayo and Frank’s red hot sauce.
The new vegetarian option is a grilled cheese sandwich and they also serve vegan wraps.
Brothers Burgers in Thatto Heath is one of three branches of the business with other venues in Haydock and Warrington.
It opened its doors on Thatto Heath Road four years ago and won North West Takeaway of the Year at the beginning of 2020.
During the Covid-19 pandemic when businesses and restaurants were forced to close, they offered deliveries as well as a collection service.
This proved to be the busiest time with customer orders flooding in and these loyal regulars returned to eat in the restaurant once restrictions eased.
Manager Bradley Swann said: “I’ve known for years that we serve the best burgers in St Helens and now we have an award to prove it.
“It’s great for St Helens and it’s great for us.
“Huge thanks to everyone that voted for us over the past few days and who has supported us over the last four years.”
Darren and Steven reckon the business’ secret is always offering simple, fresh comfort food at its best – and having a hunger not just for burgers but to keep looking forward.
There are plans to open further branches in the future.
