Our Wedding Day: Kelly and Adam make the perfect match as they celebrate their wedding on board a super yacht

But that’s exactly how Kelly Rourke and Adam Knockton spent their wedding night, celebrating with fifty friends and family on The Ocean Flyer, enjoying food, dancing and fireworks.

Here Kelly, who is 28, and 32-year-old Adam, who live in St Helens, tell us their wedding story, in their own words.

When and how did you meet?

Adam: We met in 2018 on a dating app.

What did you think of each other when you first met?

Kelly: I thought he was really sweet, funny and caring and he thought the same about me.

Where and when did you get engaged?

Kelly: We got engaged at home – it was really relaxed.

How did one of you propose?

Kelly: Adam asked the question. We chose a ring together and then he got down on one knee in the kitchen and asked me to be his wife.

What was the date of the wedding and reception?

Adam: We got married on May 9 after two setbacks.

Where did you get married?

Adam: It was at Olympic Lagoon Resort in Paphos and then onto Exclusive Yacht Weddings’ super yacht The Ocean Flyer for our evening reception, food dancing and fireworks.

Preparations before the ceremony

How were you feeling on the morning of your wedding?

Adam: I felt really relaxed and chilled by the pool all day.

Kelly: I felt excited and spent the day drinking prosecco with my bridesmaids while getting ready at the salon.

How would you describe your wedding?

Kelly: Beyond perfect.

How many guests did you have?

Adam: We had 50 guests.

What did your guests eat?

Adam: Everyone had Cypriot mezze and barbecue meats.

Did you have a first dance?

Kelly: We danced to Kodaline’s The One. We just love the song and feel it really represents us as a couple.

Did you have speeches?

Kelly: We had a speech from our best man Kev, which was the funniest best man’s speech I have ever heard, and one from Adam which was one of the nicest, most personal and thought out speeches I could have asked for.

What are your favourite memories of the day?

Kelly: The open top bus we had to take us from our hotel to the yacht.

Tell us a little bit about your outfits on the day?

Kelly: I had been searching around for a bridal shop that had sample gowns in my size as I’m a size 16. I found it difficult to try on size 8/10/12 dresses as they did not fit and I could not get a true feel for them. I found Vikki Leigh Bridal and asked to make an appointment. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Vikki and from the start she made me feel welcome and a priority - she really knew her stuff. As soon as I walked up the stairs, I saw my dress poking out on the rail and just had to try it on. The leaves were sparking in the sunlight and it was different to all the other dresses I had seen or even imagined! I tried on a number of dresses (all of them stunning) but couldn’t get the one I saw first out my head and once I tried it on, I knew it was the one. Vikki kept in touch and nothing was too much effort.

Are you going on honeymoon?

Adam: We got married in Cyprus so our honeymoon was the wedding fortnight.

Why did you want to get married?

Kelly: We both love music and trying new foods, and we have a passion to travel. I found my best friend – he’s caring, loving and supportive.
