A HOTEL and takeaway have the lowest food hygiene results in St Helens in 2022, being awarded just one out of five, the second lowest result.

The rankings, which are listed on the Food Standards Agency’s website, stated that Tony’s Spicy Chicken and The Sunbeam Hotel received the second lowest result of 1 food hygiene rating.

The rating on the Food Standards Agency website stated that the Sunbeam Hotel had to make major improvements in the management of food safety and further improvement in the areas of hygienic food handling and cleanliness of the facilities.

Meanwhile Tony’s The Spicy Chicken on Baldwin Street also needs to undergo major improvements in the management of food safety, further improvement in the cleanliness of the facilities but was seen as satisfactory for the hygienic food handling.

They join Fingerpost Pizzeria, Samerah Balti and The Barn at Fir Tree Farm, which were given a 1 food hygiene ratings in 2021
