BELOVED St Helens comedian and actor Johnny Vegas will sit down with actress and TV Presenter Angela Griffin next Friday, July 29 at the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
This will be the second ‘Evening With’ event at the newly opened venue and will take place inside the beautiful wooden cockpit theatre. The Thatto Heath born comic is famed for his honest stand up and funny rants, making him not just a treasured St Helenser but a popular Northern voice as well.
He will be interviewed by Leeds-born Angela, whose career started with her role aged 16 as hairdresser Fiona Middleton in ITV’s Coronation Street.
Since then Angela has appeared in a wide variety of much-loved dramas from Cutting It, Lewis and Holby City to Netflix series White Lines and more recently Irvine Welsh’s Crime.
Angela is currently filming BBC One’s Waterloo Road in which she will reprise the role of Kim Campbell, now Head Teacher at the iconic secondary school.
Prepare for an evening of fabulously northern conversation as Angela nosedives into Vegas’ career and early years, uncovering how an eleven-year-old Catholic trainee priest from St Helens grew up to become the North West’s answer to Lenny Bruce.
The ‘Evening With’ events will work a little bit like your school relay team- the interviewee from the last event passing on the baton to become the interviewer for the next.
The baton is a beautiful golden key designer by Abby Clarke emblazoned with the initials of Shakespeare North Playhouse.
Angela Griffin will be the next interviewee to take to the stage in our Cockpit Theatre in early 2023.
The interviewer and date will be announced in the next few months.
