POLICE in St Helens have issued a safety warning following reports of a number of youths jumping from the bridges into Carr Mill Dam.
A statement issued this afternoon read: "We shouldn't need to remind you of the dangers involved in this, and there have been recent tragic incidents in local towns as a result of such behaviour.
"If you think your child may be involved please advise them accordingly.
"Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend."
Earlier this month a 16-year-old boy died after drowning at a quarry at Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge, near Wigan.
This led to renewed warnings about young people swimming in open water.
The Star has also had reports of youths swimming in Taylor Park boating lake today.
