TO MARK the achievements of Liverpool Football Club in this year’s season, a victory parade will be taking place on the city’s streets today, Sunday, May 29.
The parade is scheduled to start at 4pm and will follow a 13.5km route starting at Allerton Maze in the south of the city.
It will then travel northbound on Queens Drive towards the Fiveways roundabout in Childwall and onto the Rocket flyover.
The route will then continue to Queens Drive, Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street and The Strand.
Large volumes of passengers are expected to travel to and from the city centre to watch the match and take part in the parade.
Merseyrail has issued travel advice ahead of the busy afternoon.
A spokesperson said: “To accommodate the increase in passengers and to continue to deliver a reliable and frequent service, some stations will be closed and there will be changes to services at Liverpool Central and Moorfields.
“With rail being the most effective way of getting into the city, an amended train timetable will run throughout the day with the regular Sunday 30-minute frequency (a 15-minute service will run between Moorfields and Southport stations after 10:00), strengthened to 6 cars wherever possible.”
In addition:
- Northern line trains will only call at Moorfields in the city centre
- Wirral line trains will only call at Liverpool Central in the city centre
- Lime Street low level, James Street, Green Lane, Bromborough Rake and Capenhurst stations will be closed all day to manage passenger numbers.
