HANNAH McLoughlin may only be 28 but she can proudly say she is the owner of an award-winning bar.
Cinema Bar on Duke Street, St Helens, was named Pub of the Year in our Best of 2022 competition after loyal locals voted for their favourite venue.
Hannah runs the popular place with boyfriend Tom Chisnall, brother Alfie McLoughlin and manager Charlie Hinton with support from parents Mark and Sandra McLoughlin.
Open Thursday to Sunday, they serve a wide selection of drinks with a cocktail of the week and drinks offers on Thursdays and Sundays.
They host regular pop-up kitchens for customers to enjoy food while they have a drink and there are plans to bring burger and pizza events over the next few weeks.
Hannah has worked in bars since she was 17, including The Nelson and the old Town House in St Helens, as well as others outside the town.
It was only when previous owners of Cinema Bar decided to sell that Hannah bought the business.
She said: “I bought Cinema Bar in 2019 just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I knew it had a lot of potential and we had a great Christmas before we had to close for the national and local lockdowns.
“I’d worked here for a few years and was manager for the last owners so it made sense to buy it when they decided to sell.
“To be shortlisted for an award like this is fantastic but to win it, when it’s voted for by our customers, is amazing.”
One nomination said: “110 gins, 80 rums, German Belgian beers and not forgetting the team’s made-to-order cocktails.
“Everything is served in the correct glassware too!”
One happy customer said on the bar’s Facebook page: “Best bar in St Helens.
“Great staff, a friendly vibe, live music and THE best cocktails!
“You've made something special here – a credit to the whole team.”
