POLICE said they received a report of a woman approaching children in a park.

Officers were alerted to the incident at Henley Park, on Warrington Road, close to Whiston Hospital, on Tuesday.

It is understood a woman was reportedly seen shouting to children asking if they’d like to play, and offering sweets.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said they have been made aware of the incident.

She said: "We were contacted at 11.20am yesterday (April 19) by a member of the public reporting a female speaking to children at Henley Memorial park.

"The woman left the park prior to police being contacted.

"Local policing officers have been made aware."
