A BAR and restaurant was reportedly broken into in the early hours of this morning, stealing their safe and causing extensive damage.
At around 3am on Monday, April 4, two men are reported to have broken into the family bar and restaurant on Station Street, Rainhill.
The reported break-in comes only a day after the Star reported on the success of Carouse and how the family business has become a popular eatery in Rainhill since opening late last year.
CCTV footage is said to show two men wearing dark clothing quickly entering and vacating the premises, and the business owners are appealing for the public's help to find those responsible.
Anyone local to the Station Street restaurant is asked to check their CCTV or dashcam footage from around 2:30am to 3:30am this morning.
Hannah Denning, co-owner of Carouse said: "We are absolutely devastated. Last night two [people] broke into Carouse at roughly 3am and caused damage and stole our safe.
"We’re still processing it and trying to work through but we need some help. If anyone from station road, Tasker Terrace, Victoria Place or surrounding areas has any CCTV from half 2 to half 3 of two men in dark clothing or a suspicious car please can you contact us.
"We have their faces on CCTV and their movements we just want to see if they get into a vehicle. This has all been given to the police.
"We’re so glad that no one was hurt and gutted that someone is clearly just using an opportunity to take advantage of our hard work and commitment."
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 7.30am this morning, Monday 4 April, we received a report of a burglary at a business on Station Road, Rainhill.
"It was reported that unknown offenders had gained entry to Carouse restaurant between 7.30pm yesterday and 7.30am this morning.
