HAYDOCK Park Racecourse has submitted plans to renovate a hostel used as jockeys’ accommodation at the venue.
Plans have been sent to St Helens Council seeking permission to make amendments to the building at the venue, on Lodge Lane.
Proposals include roof alterations to the conservatory, relocating the entrance door, creating two new window openings and a reconfiguration of bedrooms.
The plans, submitted by Haydock Park owners The Jockey Club, state: “The building is currently used as self-contained overnight accommodation predominantly for the jockey’s attending the racecourse and shall remain as such following completion of the works albeit at a reduced capacity.
“There is to be a reduction in capacity from a maximum of 70 down to 26 people”.
It adds “the ground floor will be remodelled to comprise two standardised room types”
The appearance “will not be fundamentally different from that of the existing building”.
Plans will not affect the number of employees at the racecourse.
Standard consultation on plans lasts until Wednesday, March 23, with a determination deadline set for April 21.
