A MAN was assaulted and racially abused in St Helens town centre yesterday afternoon.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was assaulted by a gang of around 15 teenage boys on Church Street while working as a delivery driver.
The incident took place at about 2.10pm on Sunday, March 6 and the group also made racist comments towards the driver.
After members of the public assisted the victim, the group then fled towards Church Square shopping centre.
Police attended the scene and the victim did not seek any medical treatment after the incident.
Merseyside Police confirmed the details of the assault and stated that CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
