A SERIAL thief who stole from a Morrisons supermarket has been given a jail sentence.
Neil O’Brien, of Prescot Road, St Helens, stole two bottles of whisky to the value of £84 on Monday, February 14 this year.
O’Brien was sent to prison after he pleaded guilty to the theft as he appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
O’Brien, 55, committed the theft while serving a suspended sentence for a previous theft from Morrisons on Boundary Road and two others.
He had stolen chocolate from the supermarket on November 15, 2020, to the value of £59.50. O’Brien also took four bottles of spirits worth £136 from Tesco on Linkway East, St Helens on November 27 that year and two bottles of whisky to the value of £45.
O’Brien had been given concurrent eight-week concurrent sentences, to be implemented as four weeks, suspended for 12 months in April last year.
He must serve the four weeks in prison and was given another six weeks to be served consecutively, making a total jail term of 10 weeks.
O’Brien must also pay £128 to fund victim services.
