A GANG of youths allegedly assaulted and verbally abused an NHS worker as she drove home from work last night.
Amanda Hoban was on her way home from a shift at Warrington Hospital on Thursday, February 17, when she felt objects hitting her windscreen and her car beginning to shake.
Driving past the Bull and Dog pub on Clock Face Road at around 8.30pm, the nursing assistant saw a group of youths on the side of the road and a male throwing something at her car.
Shocked by what was happening and concerned about the damage to her vehicle, Amanda pulled over a further down the road.
Finding that her windscreen had been "chipped in several places", she began to call the police but quickly became aware of seven individuals - both male and female - walking towards her.
Realising that she was on the phone with the police, the group of youths allegedly became verbally abusive towards Amanda and "threw a piece of concrete" at her, striking her on the leg.
Amanda said the group then ran off and scattered into nearby Sutton Park.
Shaken by the ordeal, Amanda, 44, said: "I'm just concerned that this may happen again, but I may have to find an alternative way of getting home as I don't want to have to encounter this [again].
"Unfortunately other people will be targeted and these people did not care that they had done this, and did not care that I was alone or that I was female.
"Not one of them thought to stop [or that] enough is enough [and] leave her [alone]."
