A NUMBER of affordable events are taking place for all the family to enjoy over February half-term.
Teaming up with local charity Wonder Arts, St Helens Library Service will deliver their Storytelling Festival in libraries across the borough.
The host of shows have been tailored to meet the needs of all children and young people aged from as young as two-years old, with British Sign Interpreted performances also available.
First up on the event list, ‘Dommy B’s Best Adventure Ever!’ comes to Moss Bank Library on Tuesday, February 15.
This fun and magical story about compassion and living with change - told by an award-winning performer - tells the tale of Dom and his mum who move home.
Dom has to go to a new school, leaving behind friends and familiarity, and tells tales of a magical goblin and attempts the greatest bike stunt in the world?
On Thursday, February 17, a puppet show based on the heart-warming and funny book 'The Hug' will make its way to Parr Library.
Starring a hedgehog and tortoise both in search of a restorative hug, this tale of hope, empathy, and acceptance is set to beautiful and witty music which is sure to fill audience members full of fun, laughter, and love.
Another tale for families is the real-life story of Josephine Baker, the little girl from Missouri who became an original 20th Century icon.
This will take place on Friday, February 18 at Newton-le-Willows Library, and shows Café Josephine, a down-at-heel New York diner dedicated to Josephine's life and memory 50 years after her death, which is facing closure.
Nobody remembers Josephine, who she was, what she did, what she stood for. Readers can find out how her legacy was run into the ground.
Heading into the weekend, David Gibb’s Family Jukebox will bring the programme to a close at Eccleston Library on Saturday, February 19.
David and his magical music jukebox will take you on a trip through his hilarious and often surreal imagination, where wolves roam the school corridors, dragons live under the bed, and teddy bears dance the night away at the disco.
With lots of audience interaction and chances to join in, this show is sure to appeal equally to parents and children alike.
