A SECONDARY school has submitted plans to build a purpose-built special needs area.
Rainhill High School has drawn up proposals for a SEN (Special Educational needs) base and Inclusion area to be created in its grounds.
The application, listed on the council planning portal states: "We have an increasing number of students who have special and additional educational needs and who require a diverse range of interventions to support them".

It adds: "We currently do not have the space to adequately meet those needs and therefore need to expand our building stock in order to create a purpose built suitable space in which the required interventions can take place in order to provide the best possible education (and consequently life chances) we can for our students".
Standard consultation on the plans for the Warrington Road school lasts until Monday, February 7, with a determination deadline set for March 11.
