A MAN has been charged with terrorism offences following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North West.
Mason Yates, of Elstreet Court, Widnes, was arrested by officers following a warrant at his address Friday, January 8 January.
The 18-year-old has since been charged with two counts of possession of a document or record likely to be useful to a person preparing, or committing, an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He has also been charged with possession of an extreme pornographic image.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday, November 4 and will next appear at Central Criminal Court on Friday, November 19.
Every year thousands of reports from the public are said to help police tackle terrorist threats.
If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, it is advised to trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence at gov.uk/ACT.
