TWO passengers had to be removed from their car by police officers after colliding with a bus in St Helens town centre yesterday afternoon.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service were called to the scene at around 2:20pm on Tuesday, November 2, after reports of a road traffic collision on Bickerstaffe Street, outside of St Helens bus station.

Two fire engines attended the scene to find a black Mini Cooper had collided with an Arriva bus, with passengers of the car unable to make their way out of the vehicle due to the impact.

Fire crews prepped to carry out a door removal on the Mini, but in the end this wasn’t necessary as the driver and passenger were able to exit with the assistance of police officers.
