HERE is a look at some planning applications which have been submitted to or decided on by St Helens Council which the Star has reported on over the past month.
Millfields
Public consultation on a care home developer's plans for a new £12million facility in place of a former fire station started.
Angela Swift Developments (ASD) sent formal proposals to the council for the site on Millfields in Eccleston.
As the Star reported in August ahead of the submission, the proposal involves the demolition of the former Eccleston Fire Station site to create a 66-bedroom facility in its place with views over the reservoir.
This would provide 24 hour support and care for elderly people with residential and dementia needs, the applicants say. It is anticipated the development would create around 60 jobs in the area, the developer adds.

St Peter & St Paul's RC Church
An application was submitted to the council for approval to demolish a "redundant" Roman Catholic church.
Consent is sought to knock down St Peter and St Paul's Church on Woodlands Road, Haresfinch.
The application, received by St Helens Council, is for "prior approval for (the) demolition of redundant church, presbytery and parish club".
The Archdiocese of Liverpool said: "In early 2020, prior to lockdown, consultations took place in the parish of St Peter and St Paul, Haresfinch, and in the wider St Helens pastoral area, regarding pastoral provision in the area.
"Following these discussions further consultations took place with the archdiocesan Council of Priests and the archdiocesan trustees and the decision was taken to close the church building."

Homes near ex-Pilks head office
Plans to create homes and apartments on land near to the former Pilkingtons head office were drawn up.
Proposals for 42 houses and 34 apartments, along with associated development and landscaping have been submitted for land south of Alexandra Park, where the former Pilks headquarters was situated.
The plans, which have been sent in to the council, have already attracted letters of objection from some residents.
Plans include for 16 one-bed apartments; 18 two-bed apartments; 22 two-bed homes and 20 three-bed houses with associated access, landscaping, services and parking.

Former Rockware social club
New plans were drawn up to convert a former social club.
The plans are for the change of use of the former Rockware on Shaw Street, St Helens from a licensed premises to a mixed use adult day care centre and a light industrial unit.
Plans have been sent in by Marie Cunliffe, of Ever Evolving, which provides open day care provision for young adults with additional needs.
The new application will "supersede" previous plans to convert the building into industrial units and possibly a sports bar or convenience store, which were approved last year, should permission be granted.

5G mast in Rainford Village
Plans to erect a 15-metre high telephone mast in Rainford – which residents said would "ruin" the centre of the village were rejected.
The Star reported last month how residents had raised concerns after a planning application for the structure, along with three equipment boxes, was submitted for land fronting 15 Church Road in Rainford.
It was proposed the 15-metre high "slim line monopole" would also have a wraparound cabinet.
However, more than 300 objections were lodged against the scheme.
