POLICE have charged a man after they stopped a stolen car following a pursuit.
Patrols on Knowsley Lane began to chase a black Ford Kuga at around 9.30pm on Sunday, October 24. The vehicle was bought to a stop by police at a roundabout near junction two of the M57.
The driver of the Kuga and the driver of a police vehicle were taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries suffered during the stop.
Two officers and the passenger in the Kuga also suffered minor injuries.
Officers searched the vehicle, recovered suspected drugs and a weapon and arrested the driver and passenger.
Ben Duffy, 26, of Wigan Road, Leigh, has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving; driving while disqualified; driving without insurance; failing to provide a specimen for analysis and receiving stolen goods.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old woman passenger in the car, from Leigh, has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Duffy was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court this morning, Tuesday, October 26.
