“THE gates to Rainhill Hell are now open - your only goal is to survive...”
That’s the chilling challenge being laid down by Signature Living, the owners of Rainhill Hall, ahead of their latest Spooktacular event, the Haunted Acres.
Designed to celebrate the history of Rainhill Hall through a scary haunted walk like no other, Haunted Acres will take place at the former stately home on Warrington Road every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during October until Hallowe'en.
The Grade II listed country house, built in the 19th century, dates back to 1824, when it was constructed by Bartholomew Bretherton.
Bretherton was an important and influential resident of Rainhill and was very much involved in the Rainhill locomotive trials in 1829, the route of which ran across part of his land.
Later on in 1907, Evelyn Stapleton-Bretherton married Prince Gebhard Blücher von Wahlstatt, who was descended from the great Prussian General-Field-Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, the first Prince, who had contributed notably to the allied victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
No doubt some of these characters will make an appearance during the walk!
Tickets start at £18.95 per person or for those brave enough can upgrade to the RIP overnight stay from £160 per person.
With groups of 10 in each slot, the Haunted Acres walk runs from 6.30 to 10.10pm. For more info go to rainhillhall.co.uk
