LIVERPOOL blues rockers Xander and the Peace Pirates travel the short distance to St Helens for a gig at The Vault on Church Street on Saturday, September 25.
Brothers Keith and Stu Xander were discovered on YouTube by Gibson Brands CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz, and during their subsequent performances for the company at numerous international events, the band caught the attention of not just an ever-growing collective of fans but also industry legends.
Front-man Keith ‘The One-Armed Wonder’ Xander is a virtuoso musician in his own right and his playing rivals the best in the industry. The fact that he was born without a lower right arm hasn’t hindered his playing whatsoever; his unique picking via a plectrum attached to a hook on his prosthetic arm is testament to his stunning playing abilities.
Drawing influences from Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Bill Withers, Foy Vance and Stevie Ray Vaughn, the band is an eclectic mix of guitar-led blues rock with whispers of Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones.
For many years they were also the resident band in the world famous Cavern Pub in their hometown of Liverpool.
Since forming over a decade ago, the band have shared the stage with legends such as Bon Jovi, Buddy Guy, Van Morrison, Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) and Joe Satriani and were personally invited to support ex-Whitesnake and blues guitar hero Bernie Marsden on his UK tour.
With haunting riffs, genius melodies, and an irrepressibly infectious charisma, Xander and the Peace Pirates continue to share their musical passion to standing ovations, while spreading a universal message of peace, love and harmony.
Support on the night comes from fellow Liverpudlian band, Polker, who recently released their second single, Louder By The Sea and Merseyside rockers SAPHO.
Any tickets purchased for this event also include free access to the boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk which will be shown outside on three large TV’s following the end of Xander and The Peace Pirates’ set.
Doors open from 6pm with tickets available from skiddle.com
