HERE is a look at some police incidents from the past week in St Helens that police are still appealing for information in relation to:

Dog attack

Police were called following reports that two American bulldogs were running loose in Mount Pleasant Avenue in Parr at around 8.40pm on Monday, August 23.

One man had been bitten by one of the dogs, police say.

The man, who is in his 40s, went to hospital for treatment for puncture wounds to his chest.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening,a police spokeswoman said.

One of the dogs was seized by officers at the scene. 

Officers carried out an extensive search of the area and a police helicopter was called out to help.

However, the second dog was not found and remains outstanding.

Police inquiries remain ongoing to trace the second dog and to find the owners.

East Lancs tragedy

Police received a report at around 5.30pm on Monday, August 23, that a car was in collision with a pedestrian near Haydock Island.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for his injuries where he passed away.

He was later identified as Gaz Powell, 39, from Haydock.

Police say his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Pet shop robbery

Robbers snatched a cash box from a security guard outside a pet shop on a retail park and then made off in a getaway car.

Police are appealing for information following the incident, which happened on Thursday morning (August 26).

At around 11am officers received a report that a cash box had been stolen from a security guard outside Pets at Home in Cables Retail Park in Prescot.

It was reported "two males" approached the security guard and took the cash box before they made off in a black Audi S3 in an unknown direction.

It is believed there may have been two other people inside the vehicle also.

The suspects are described as around 5ft 11in tall and of medium build.

At the time of the incident, one of the males was wearing a grey hoody and grey trousers and one of the males was wearing a black jacket and cargo style trousers.

Both were wearing black scarves to cover their faces, black caps and black gloves.

Police say the security guard was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.
