THE ANNUAL Classic Car Show returns to St Helens town centre next weekend, on Saturday, September 4.

Organised by St Helens Borough Council and the St Helens Classic Car Association, the free event will see a number of memorable motors from years gone by line-up in Church Square, with awards handed out for best vehicle.

A treat for all motorheads, the event will showcase a history of classic and rare motor vehicles and is not one to miss.

The Classic Car Show is the latest attraction to come to St Helens Town Centre over the summer as part of an action-packed programme in Church Square.

All organised by the council to help support the local economy recover from the coronavirus pandemic, the programme has been a huge success with families finally able to take their children to outdoor events.

Examples of the several successful events include the family-favourite Peppa Pig visit, Dino Day, a princess and superhero day as well as a Circus.

Encouraging residents to attend, Councillor Anthony Burns, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Culture and Heritage said: “The St Helens Classic Car Show is always a great occasion, with an array of eye-catching cars, motorbikes and other types of vintage vehicles lining up in Church Square to have a peek at.”

“If the turnout is anything near like the ones we’ve had for our other events over the summer, it’s sure to be a fantastic day and one all the family can enjoy.”

“While visiting town for this event, be sure to lend your support to the many fantastic independent businesses we have here, from retail to hospitality, and remember that covid hasn’t gone away, so please do everything that’s necessary to keep yourself and others safe.”

Doubling up the action, the Citadel Art’s free ‘In The Street’ family festival is also taking place on the same day.

Featuring some of the UK’s best children’s and family shows, organisers of the festival are promising the day will be an experience you’ll never forget.

In The Street will take place in Church Street between 10am - 4:30pm on Saturday 4 September, while St Helens Classic Car Show will get underway at 11:00am, finishing at 4:00pm.
