POLICE in St Helens say there have been reports of recent burglaries in which the back doors to people's properties have been damaged.
Officers are asking residents to ensure their homes are as secure as possible in the wake of the incidents.
Taking to social media, police called for people to be vigilant.

In a statement police in St Helens said: "Recent burglaries have been committed by offenders damaging rear doors.
"Please review your home security and consider an alarm and CCTV.
"Also consider keeping a light on in the property, keys for home and cars away from the windows and doors and ensure you keep doors and windows closed and locked when you are not at home, or at night.
"Many burglars are opportunists so keep your property as safe as you can.
"Officers do patrol regularly, but these are some steps you can take yourself to prevent crime."
