Thunderstorms are set to hit St Helens later this week, according to the Met Office.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for much of the North West from Wednesday (June 16) that is expected to last for three days.
But not before the area basks in large spells of sunshine tomorrow, with temperatures set to rise to a high of 23 degrees.
Sunseekers will feel the full benefit from mid-afternoon, before the weather takes a serious turn for the worse on Wednesday morning.
The adverse weather conditions could cause flooding and travel disruption in some areas.
Despite the downturn, temperatures will still hit around 20 degrees on Wednesday before dipping to 17 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
