POLICE have charged a man in connection with a robbery in St Helens town centre - after three members of the public helped police track down a suspect.
The incident unfolded at Hays Travel on Church Street, St Helens at about 3.15pm on Friday.
Police were called and, assisted by three members of the public, located and arrested a suspect.
A man has since been charged.
In a statement police said: “We have charged a 60-year-old man with robbery following an incident in St Helens town centre on Friday, June 11
“Following his arrest, Gary Gilboy, 60, of Salisbury Avenue, Netherton, was charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
“He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court tomorrow morning (Monday, June 14)."
