SAINTS coach Kristian Woolf has given a further injury update on players missing this week and those expected to return.

They will go into the game at Huddersfield on Thursday without wingman Tommy Makinson, who picked up a foot injury against Wakefield.

In positive news, Saints welcome back forward Sione Mata’utia and have high hopes that centre Mark Percival will play.

Woolf said: “We took Tommy off 10 or 15 minutes early last week. He had a bit of a foot injury but it is not a bad one.

“We would expect him to be fully fit and be back next week.

“He has been outstanding in the first four weeks and playing really well – so it is a shame we don’t have him this week.”

If Mark Percival returns, it would mean one of Kevin Naiqama or Jack Welsby reverting to the flank.

But if there are any doubts over the England centre, another option will be taken.

“Mark Percival has been around-abouts the last couple of weeks, we expect him to play but if there is anything that gives us any doubt then we will change our mind and figure it out from there,” Woolf said.

“If Percy did not come through then Tom Nisbet would get an opportunity on the wing.”

There is positive news with a return to the pack of NRL recruit Mata'utia.

“Sione comes back in and that is a real positive because he was probably our best player in the first two rounds,” said Woolf.

“I am looking forward to having his input again.”

Woolf also gave an update on loose forward Morgan Knowles, who has not featured this year after having a repair job done on his off-season thumb surgery.

“Morgan Knowles gets a scan this week and that will give us a really good idea of where it sits.

“The best-case scenario is a couple of weeks – it is all positive and not too far away,” Woolf said.
