BRITISH Transport Police have confirmed that the cause of an incident leading to train delays and cancellations was the body of a person being found on the tracks.
Officers were called to Huyton train station shortly after 8am this morning after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are now trying to identify the person and inform their family.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Rail operator Northern said that services are unable to call between Liverpool and Wigan North Western and Liverpool and Manchester Oxford Road, via Newtonl-e-Willows.
Trains running from these stations may be cancelled or delayed, meaning services running from St Helens' stations are affected.
