TRIBUTES have been pouring in for a much-loved chef who died after battling coronavirus.
Robert Fairclough, who worked as a chef at the Village Hotel in Whiston, died on January 24, 2021 after suffering from Covid-19.
His death, aged 34, came just six days after his mother-in-law also died at home also from coronavirus.
The Whiston man's family and friends have set up a fundraising page to raise funds for his funeral and to help his wife Emma at this difficult time.
Mourners have pledged donations and many have also left moving tributes and messages of condolence.
The fundraising page reads: "As most of you are aware on the 24th January 2021, my dear friend Robert Fairclough passed away in hospital from Covid-19.
"This has been a very tough time for this local, well-loved family, especially his wife Emma, who has been in intensive care at Whiston fighting the virus whilst also grieving the loss of her beloved Mum who passed away only six days before.
"Thankfully Emma is recovering well and is hoping to be home this week where she can start to rebuild her life.
"As a close friend of Emma and her family I ask if anyone in the local community felt they were able to contribute towards the funeral costs, I know it would be hugely appreciated from them in this devastating time."
So far £1,850 has been raised.
Among the tributes, where the words of one friend, which read: "God has took one of the best souls away from us.
"I will miss our banter kidda. Rest in peace lots of love to all your family."
