RIVINGTON Road School has a long rugby league pedigree - not surprising given the calibre of coaching those players have had from the schoolmasters over the year.
This group shot of the 1968-69 rugby team underlines that, featuring as it does two members of staff on it who both played for Saints.
Seated in the front row are headteacher Bill Garner, who played for the Saints before and during the Second World War, and dual code international John Mantle.
The big Welshman, of course, was part of Wembley winning teams of 1966, 1972 and 1976 - and inspired several generations of young players.
