POLICE found the body of a man after being called to a report of concern for safety.
Officers attended the field near Ruskin Avenue, Newton-le-Willows on Monday night at around 9pm.
Residents reported seeing police and ambulance in the area.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that they were called to a concern for safety.
A 65-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, police added.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 9pm, police were called to a concern for safety of a male in a park near Ruskin Avenue, Newton-le-Willows.
"Sadly, the 65 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."
