A MUM has made it her mission to help children on the wards this Christmas have something to read.
Carina Parmley, 25, has set up a community fundraiser for new children’s books to be made available for Whiston Hospital for over the Christmas period.
The books will be for the children to take home and also for the hospital to keep as it is one resource Carina says they often don't have enough of.

"I started the fundraiser because it's something that's close to my heart," said Carina, whose own children have been cared for in hospital.
"They have toys there but they don't have enough books.
"For a lot of parents it is a dash to hospital and it could be a case of they don't have books with them to read to the children and they don't know how long they're going to be in hospital for," added Carina, who works as an independent organiser for publisher of children's books Usborne.
She also has plans to help other hospitals in the region.
"I also plan on doing it for Wigan and Alder Hey Hospitals too."
