A WOMAN was left injured after being hit by an offroad motorbike as a rider was fleeing police.

Police recovered the bike (pictured) after it had collided with a 25-year-old woman pedestrian.

Officers say three offroad bikes came to their attention on Hoghton Road, Sutton at around 2.20pm on Sunday afternoon, August 16.

The riders made off from police and one of them collided with the pedestrian, who officers say sustained "minor injuries".

It is believed the rider then abandoned the vehicle and made off.

Police recovered the bike at 'The Moss' at the back of Hoghton Road after the collision.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We are appealing for information following a fail to stop collision in St Helens yesterday, Sunday, August 16.

"At around 2.20pm, three off-roads bike came to the attention of officers on patrol in Hoghton Road.

"The bikes made off and one collided with a 25-year-old female pedestrian, who sustained minor injuries.

"The rider of the bike made off on foot and enquires are ongoing to trace them.
