A MAN charged with rape and sexual assault of a woman has appeared in court.
John David Lawrence, of Hornby Road, Walton, Liverpool is accused of committing the offences in St Helens.
Lawrence, 36, faces a charge of rape relating to an alleged attack in November 2009.
Lawrence has also been charged with assault by penetration in relation to an alleged incident between October and November last year.
He also faces two charged of assault by beating of a woman in relation to alleged incidents on December 9, 2019 and December 29.
Lawrence also faces a charge of putting a person in fear of violence by harassment.

The 36-year-old appeared before Merseyside Magistrates’ Court.
The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court, where Lawrence will next appear on August 25.
Lawrence has been remanded into custody until then.
