FOR those born on February 29, birthdays are something of a luxury.
We asked for St Helens residents to let us know if they were celebrating their birthday today.
One story in particular stood out, as a mum and son Sandra and Christopher Swift both have their birthdays today on February 29.
Mum and son Sandra and Christopher Swift are celebrating their birthdays today
Sandra, from Blackbrook, said: "It's crazy really, I have four children, but to have a rare birthday myself, it is crazy to have my son on the same day 24 years later.
"Apparently it was a one in a million chance.
"I'm turning 60 and he's turning 36, but technically we are only turning 15 and nine.
"It's amusing because technically my 12-year old-grandson is older than his uncle.
"We usually celebrate our birthdays on the 28th but when we have our proper birthdays every four years we always do something big.
"This year we are going to have a do at Blackbrook Rugby Club.
