POLICE have sealed off a large area of a road in Sutton after a woman was stabbed in the back and a man was stabbed in his chest.
A large police presence is in place on Walter Grove in Sutton on the Meliden Garden estate and officers have cordoned off a large area on the street.
Numerous police vehicles and forensics are on the scene.
Police were called after reports that a woman in her 30s suffered multiple stab wounds to her back. She was treated by ambulance and taken to hospital.

She is in a "serious but non life-threatening condition", say police.
Police were called shortly after 12.30pm. Numerous police cars, vans and paramedics could be seen heading to the street.
On entering the premises, a man in his 40s was found with stab wounds to his chest and lacerations to his legs and left arm.
He has been taken to hospital and his condition is also described as serious but not life-threatening.
Road closures are in place around Walter Grove.
Detective Inspector Leanne Hobin said: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation and would appeal to anyone with information to contact us so that we can establish exactly what has happened.”
