A COMIC writer has expressed his delight at seeing a character he created portrayed on the big screen in new superhero movie Captain Marvel.
Alan Cowsill worked as an editor in Marvel's UK office for nearly a decade from 1993.
One of the characters Alan created in a series called Revolutionary War was Agent Keller, the head of SHIELD's European branch.
The character features on screen in the new Captain Marvel movie as the boss of Nick Fury, played by Samuel L Jackson, at SHIELD.
And Alan went to the see the film without knowing that one of his creations was in the picture.
"The first time I saw it I left halfway through the credits and I got a text saying they'd seen my name in the credits," said Alan, 52, also a published author.
"I worked out which character it must have been as I missed his name. It didn't dawn on me until afterwards.
"I went back to Cineworld just to watch the credits. It was an amazing thing.
"It was great to see my name on the big screen next to such idols of mine such as Stan Lee, Roy Thomas and Peter David. That seems hard to believe really."
Former Edmund Campion pupil Alan added: "One of the amusing things about the Keller appearance is that I'm also still editing the Marvel Movie Collection for Eaglemoss and will be doing an issue and Figurine to Agent Keller at some point."
Alan has also done some work on Marvel-themed stamp collections for the Royal Mail.
With leading comic artist Alan Davis creating the art for the stamps, Alan wrote the accompanying text for the collector's booklet that goes with the stamps providing a history of Marvel comics.
"I also created a history of the Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and the Avengers for a Marvel Coin Collection the Royal Mail have just released, they've done a fantastic job on them."
