Emergency crews at the scene this morning
POLICE say the man whose body was pulled from a canal at Blackbrook was aged in his 50s and from Haydock.
Officers were called at 9.05am on Saturday to the St Helens Canal near Blackbrook Road where they found the body of the man in the water.
Police have now identified the man and have informed his next of kin.
His name has not been released at this stage.
His death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and a file will be sent to the coroner.
Police and fire crews were present at the scene throughout Saturday morning.
