KNOWSLEY Safari Park's lion enclosure is closed after a vehicle was on fire at the attraction earlier today.
Fire crews attended the Prescot attraction just after 11am today to tackle the car fire.
A Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Two fire engines attended the incident and crews used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"No-one was injured.
"Firefighters remained at the scene for around one hour."
A statement from Knowsley Safari Park which was posted on social media said: "Every day is different on safari! Unfortunately this sometimes means we have to close parts of the park to keep both the animals and our guests safe.
"Today, due to a guest vehicle fire on the drive our lion enclosure will remain closed.
"All guests and animals are safe and sound."
The safari park confirmed the lions' enclosure is to reopen on Thursday (August 3).
