THIS picture of a bowls team that we featured some time ago generated plenty of feedback.
And I though it would be nice to show it again with some of the responses following Father’s Day.
Barbara Spark wrote: “I have just seen the picture of the bowling team in the Star and staring back at me was a picture of my dad.
“He is third from the right standing with glasses on.
“His name is Harold Hilditch. He died in September at the great age of 97. The person kneeling in front of him was his friend Hughie Roberts. We think the team played for the Railway Hotel in Thatto Heath as I have a different picture of that team and there are a few similar faces on it. We guess that the photo was taken in the late 80s early 90s by looking at my dad. ”
Wendy Gaskell wrote at the same time: “I can identify the gent on the left hand side of the picture in the shirt and tie. It’s my dad, and his name is Robert (Bob) Webster.
“I can only ever remember him playing for Parr and Hardshaw Labour Club, and their bowling ground was in Nanny Goat Park in Recreation Street. I don’t know the year, but will try and find out a bit more information.”
