A 26-YEAR-OLD St Helens man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged assault in Runcorn.
At around 2am yesterday, Sunday, Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service were called to reports of an assault on St Johns Street.
A 32-year-old man from Runcorn was found unconscious in the middle of the road.
A man was arrested at an address close to the scene in the early hours of Sunday.
Jack Cartwright, 26, of North Road, was charged following questioning and appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court today, Monday, where he was remanded in custody.
The alleged victim was taken to Whiston Hospital with serious head injuries – he is currently in a critical condition.
Cartwright is set to appear at Chester Crown Court on May 27.
