THE nominees for the Beauty by Helen French and Colourbox Mentor of the Year Award are:
Amanda Bradshaw
Amanda Bradshaw is said to go that extra mile for students and their families.
As pastoral care manager at Sutton Oak Primary School she is regarded as an unsung hero who offers vital support during hard times, particularly to youngsters who may be vulnerable.
Her nomination read: “She always listens to the children and their families. She is there for a shoulder to cry on and supports them as much as possible.
“Her communication with other staff is excellent and she supports staff through difficult times too.
“She is always smiling and sees the positives.”
Donna Melling
Donna Melling was nominated for her sterling work at the Napier Inclusion Centre where she teaches English/film studies and history.
The centre is part of the St Helens Council’s Behaviour and Inclusion Improvement Service and a significant number of students there have been diagnosed with anxiety disorders, and medical conditions.
Donna is said to inspire pupils to “think and feel their way through education”, ensuring that they leave confident of doing the best they can.
Her nomination read: “She teases, prods, and sometimes drags knowledge from the most hesitant, withdrawn students – always knowing what angle to approach.
“She is humble, hardworking and a hell of a lady.”
