THE nominees for the Scoff Outside Catering Champion Fundraiser are:

Ian Smith

Ian Smith funded Tunza’s Pride in 2004 with a 10 year plan to open their own social centre by November 2014.

This November, The Tunza Centre will open on Boundary Road, a year ahead of schedule.

With more than 14 years experience in the charity sector, Ian has raised more than £1m for charities including Tunza and Willowbrook. He has created more than 30 fundraising projects offering volunteering opportunities to more than 5,000 adults and children. He has also developed many fundraising partnerships with the public and private sector.

The married father of two is passionate about the welfare of St Helens people and says The Tunza Centre will offer children and adults a place to learn new skills, meet new friends, and generally help create a positive impact on the community.

Alan Pedley

When Alan Pedley’s father died from lung cancer in March 2011, he was determined to raise as much as he could to help those battling the disease.

Alan, from New Bold, initially took part in sponsored bike rides and similar event, but it was when watching comedian David Walliams swim the channel that the idea ‘Eight Lunatics in a Boat’ hit him.

Gathering a group of like-minded friends, they trained for 12-months, making several training trips to Portsmouth.

Braved 15ft waves and terrible weather conditions, they managed to successfully row across the English Channel, despite having no rowing experience.

And despite facing nerve wracking setbacks along the way they reached France and raised more than £15,500 for Cancer Research UK.

Margaret Tipping

For Margaret Tipping, fundraising is in the blood, as she credits her mother with being a great campaigner.

Over the years, Margaret has raised money for countless charities, including Christie Cancer Hospital, Hospice International and missions in Africa.

One cause close to her heart is the Friends of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO) in Malawi, where 5,500 orphans live in abject poverty. In the last decade Margaret has raised more than £140,000.

She has also raised £30,000 for the people of St Helens to buy health care equipment.

Among her fundraising activities are plant sales, garden parties, musical evenings and coffee mornings.

However she says that that she could not have raised such funds without the generosity of people.
