IRISH singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes is coming to St Helens this month in support of her fourth studio album Let It Break, released last year.
Combining acoustic, folk and prog rock styles, the 35-year-old songstress has received critical acclaim and acknowledgement among both experts and peers.
Throughout her career she has performed with countless names including the likes of Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon.
Gemma’s large fan-base lies not only in Ireland but across seas.
Her music has featured in numerous TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill and more recently, The Vampire Diaries. Such programmes have allowed Gemma to access a global audience with her instantly recognisable sound.
Back in 2002, the singer’s debut album Night On My Side was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, resulting in a huge increase in popularity which stretched as far as Japan.
2012’s Let it Break was recorded in both France and Ireland and was produced by longtime associate David Odlum, before mastering took place in the USA.
The new album can be described as a culmination of Hayes’ best work. The production alone illustrates the diversity of the record and tracks such as Keep Running showcase the singer’s emotive songwriting ability.
The show takes place on Friday, January 18 and tickets are priced at £12. To book, call on 01744 735436 or alternatively visit the box office on Waterloo Street.
