FILM fans are expected to gather as The Hobbit, one of 2012’s most eagerly awaited movies, goes on release in Cineworld St Helens.
Peter Jackson’s movie is the first of a trilogy adapted from the masterpiece by JRR Tolkien. It tells a story set in Middle-Earth, 60 years before The Lord of the Rings.
It follows Bilbo Baggins’ quest to reclaim the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Howard Shore – The Hobbit OST
This week the eagerly anticipated Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit hits UK screens.
And of course, new film, new soundtrack.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Soundtrack marks a stunning return of composer Howard Shore’s finest work.
Winning numerous awards for his score across the three Lord Of The Rings films, Shore has been critically praised for his beautiful infusion of classic and contemporary music.
Opening track My Dear Frodo features the same familiar woodwind and percussion sounds. Misty Mountains is a chilling vocal-based track by Richard Armitage and the Dwarf Cast.
Hats off to Mr Howard Shore; you’ve excelled yourself.
