Thatto Heath youngster heads to Rochdale Hornets

THATTO Heath youngster Adam Carr has joined Rochdale Hornets for the 2020 League 1 season.

He follows skipper Andy Lea in heading to Spotland.

Carr, 19, can cover both second row and loose forward, and has been at Thatto Heath since 2013.

He has developed through their successful amateur set up, and has also been involved in Lancashire through under 17s, under 19s and Open Age.

He was also involved in the side's successful 2019 season in both the Challenge Cup and the league.

On his first professional contract, he said: "I am really happy to have signed a deal with Rochdale.

"Hopefully I can repay the trust that has been put in me in the 2020 season.

"As I'm only young, I am looking forward to what the future holds with Rochdale and how far I can progress in the future."

Head coach Matt Calland added: "Adam comes to us after a real successful season at Thatto Heath where he lifted the National Cup and was a key performer in the NCL.

"After a successful season, he represented Lancashire in the tri series.

"He comes to us as an ambitious, hungry, young powerful forward and he’s one we can work with and help mature."
