It's time for this team to 'write their own story' says Saints captain James Roby
SAINTS captain James Roby knows what it takes to go to Wembley and win, having done so twice before.
However, he says it is time for the team of 2019 to “write their own story†and emulate the great Saints sides of the past.

Saints have already stormed their way to a second successive League Leaders’ Shield this season but the skipper admits the achievement will count for little if they do not go on to win one of the major finals in 2019.
“This team is up there with any I’ve played, it’s one of the best if not the best,†said Roby, a cup winner in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
“I think it’s hard to compare teams because the game changes, players change. People have been asking about 2006 and even though it’s only 13 years it’s almost a different generation because some of the lads I’m playing with now were six, seven years old then. I’ve played in fantastic teams in the past and luckily I’m playing in a fantastic team right now.
“Hopefully we can write our own story and the key thing to do that is to win some trophies and we know that’s what we’ve got to do.
“At the end of the day no-one remembers who wins the league leaders, it’s who wins the Challenge Cup and the Grand Final but luckily we’ve put ourselves in a position where we’ve got one and potentially we could get two more. But we will just keep our heads down and keep chipping away.â€
It has been a long wait since Saints’ last Challenge Cup final appearance in 2008 and Roby says they are determined to make up for that on Saturday.
“Eleven years is far too long for a club like Saints. I was lucky enough to do it in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and probably took it for granted back then and didn’t realise how lucky I was to be a part of that team.
“But the main thing is we’re back, we’ve put ourselves in that position and we’ve done that through hard work and being consistent and we’ve got to do that again on Saturday. It’s been too long for a club like St Helens but hopefully we can right that this weekend.â€
He added: “We’ve got ourselves in a position and it’s just one more step to go.
“We want to do our jobs week in and week out and hopefully we’ll get the rewards as they come. We’ve been very consistent, I think it’s fair to say we deserve to be the league leaders but there’s more to play and there’s more that we want.â€
And, despite Saints getting the better of the Wolves on three occasions in Super League so far this season, Roby says the team are not expecting anything other than a very tough challenge.
“It’s a totally different occasion. Their form of late has not been very good but I’m sure they’ll be talking this game up as a fresh start.
“We’re expecting the best Warrington team they can bring and we’ll have to bring our best as well. It’s a fantastic occasion and we’ve just got to go out there and do our jobs and not get too distracted.
“Let’s take St Helens down there and let’s hopefully go on and win the thing and make it a great day for all.â€
