Prescot secure place in Pennine League

Oxton Men 5 Prescot Men 5

The men wrapped up their season with a ding dong battle on the Wirral.

Early goals settled the nerves before a stronger than expected Oxton side came back to lead 3-2 at the break. Mortimer and Boulton put Prescot back into the lead before Oxton scored two of their own to lead 5-4 with minutes remaining.

Doyle scored the crucial penalty corner to take away a deserved point and secure a top four finish in North West One and a place in the new Pennine League.

University of Manchester 0 Prescot Ladies 1

Prescot beat a determined university of Manchester one nil to secure the Manchester League title and a promotion to the Pennine League as Champions. Arch rivals were playing on the next pitch but watched on a Wood scored the decisive goal.

Prescot ladies 0 Urmston ladies 0

The ladies played their second game of the weekend in a tense affair away at Urmston. The game finished nil nil but Prescot kept their composure to win 4-3 on strokes and progress to their third cup semi final of the season. With a national semi final played last week in Surrey, the League One Cup Final to play in April and the All Division semi final next week the Prescot Ladies are already League Champions and are chasing an unprecedented 'treble' of silverware.

With both first teams securing promotion to their respective Pennine Leagues next season Prescot Hockey club will be seeking new players of all levels to join the club for the new season.
