ST HELENS Tri closed out January with some memorable performances across the country.

Ben Livingston made his 13.1 mile debut at the Four Villages Half Marathon in Helsby and recorded an excellent 1:36:55 and sixth in his age group, while his dad Mark clocked 1:39:54 on his long awaited return to the club. Gary Davies and Caroline Bones also took on the course and finished in under two and a half hours.

Eddie Hirst and Shirley Fox have a long history of performing when it matters and they overcame awful conditions at the Ashridge House Duathlon in Hertfordshire, Eddie placing 9th in his age group at standard distance to qualify for the for the European multisport championships with Shirley taking fourth in her division in the sprint race to get into the world duathlon championship. Meanwhile Jennifer Miller went to Carlisle for the X-Border 10k and finished in 1:00:29.
